Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for all your generous contributions to the Christmas basket for the single Mom and her little girl. There were lots of toys and gift cards and clothes for both. I wish we could see the Mom's face when she gets our basket. I am sure she will be thrilled.
The children in room 156 had a wonderful day on Friday making all their Christmas crafts. A huge thank you goes out to Susan O'Reilly, Jane Taylor, Carla Morton, Wendy Mitchell, Jan Meloche and Leslie Killaly for all their support in helping out with the crafts and pizza lunch. I couldn't have done it without you, especially as it was my first day back!! We all worked hard and it was a great success!
This week I will be focusing on the true meaning of Christmas as part of our traditions in social studies. It is important that our children understand the Christian faith as well as the other beliefs from around the world.
In science we are continuing to work on simple machines and motion. In math we are working on patterning according to different attributes.
In language we are continuing with the study of nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives. We will be looking at how we write a story focusing on beginning, middle and end. We will do this in several ways. We will look at characters, setting, the main idea or problem in the story and finally how the story ends. One way we will look at this is, of course, by using familiar stories, and what better way then by using the traitional Christmas story.
This is a very special time of year for our children. It is a time filled with family, peace, joy and hope. It can also be a hectic time, as we rush around trying to prepare for the special day. Try and take some time to enjoy the innocence and excitement that your child brings to this holiday season. As they grow up they will remember all your family memories based around this time. Make it special for them, by taking the time, which is such a gift in itself. Our children grow up so quickly...the years fly by.
May you find new meaning and hope in the joy of the Christ Child's birth and in His everlasting presence in our lives.
Warmest Wishes,
Mrs. Seitz
