Spelling

Dear Parents,
Next week we will be starting our Spelling Program. Please make sure to check your child's agenda for a new list of spelling words each week. The word list will be stapled into the agendas each Monday. We will work on the Spelling words throughout the week and the Spelling tests will occur on Friday. If your child is away or for some reason they do not have a spelling list in their book, please check my blog. The words will be listed here each week.
Please help your child to study their spelling words each night.
Please print out the following instructions for your child on how to study their spelling words:
You will already know how to spell some of the words in your Spelling Word List, but there might be some words that are hard for you.
When you need to study a word, use these steps.
1. Look at the word, letter by letter, from the beginning to the end
2. Say the word by yourself and listen carefully to the sounds
3. Cover the word.
4. Write the word
5. Check the spelling, letter by letter, with the word in the list.
If you make a mistake, notice where it is. Did you make a mistake at the beginning of the word, in the middle, or at the end? Now do all the steps over again with the same word.
