Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you have a great weekend, as the weather promises to be beautiful. I know many of you have gone North, and what a weekend to do it!!

The children are continuing to work hard at school. They had a great time making their Thanksgiving cards and turkeys with their Reading Buddies, who are in grade five in Mrs. Young's class. We meet with our Buddies once a cycle and it is a wonderful way for the older students to help the younger children with projects, reading and writing.
I have sent home an interview project with the children that is part of our social studies unit. Please encourage your child to interview a grandparent or an older aunt or uncle. I would also encourage them to write their answers in full sentences. The interview sheet is due on Oct. 17th and we will be sharing our work with one another.
In science we have started our unit on Liquids and Solids.
In math we have finished our unit on Data Management and are beginning our unit on number facts to 20. Right now we are focusing on "doubles" and near doubles (i.e.., 2+2, 4+4, 4+3 etc.)
Practice at home in this would be very beneficial for your child.
The homework on the turkey assignment is due on Tues., Oct.11th, but if you find that your weekend is really busy and you don't have time, Wednesday is fine to bring it in.
Thank you all for your continued support. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving...we have so much to be grateful for.
