MARCH NEWS

Dear Parents,

After we come back from the March Break we will be making globes to help the children consolidate what we have been learning in social studies about our earth and mapping skills. If you could be so kind as to send in newspapers with your child over the next few weeks, that would be wonderful. I will need four parents to help me with this messy venture of paper mache. I am thinking of doing this the week we are back from the Break on the Friday (25th) afternoon. If you are interested in helping out could you please let Susan or Jane know.
We have planned to take the grade two children to Harbourfront for the day of June 2nd to learn about making masks. We will need two parent volunteers to accompany us. Again, please contact Susan or Jane if you are interested in helping out. It will be for the full day.
In language we are going to be starting our unit on Fairy Tales at the end of the month. This will take up most of this last term, as I would also like to have the stories published. We will be focusing on how a story is written, characters, setting, plot, and beginning, middle and end. If you have any books at home relating to Fairy Tales and wouldn`t mind sharing them I would appreciate it.
In language, some of my children are reading, learning and writing about the Famous Artists.
This week coming up I promised the children we would have a Spelling Bee. They all took their spellers home to review all our words up to lesson 19. I have decided to have a practice run on Tuesday and a final on Friday. This way if it has been a busy weekend you still have Monday night to study!
In math we are learning about measurement and will finish this week learning about area and perimeter. Our next unit is on 3-D shapes.
In science we are continuing to learn about air and water.
March Break dates are March 14th -18th.
TDSB Earth Hour is 2:00pm - 3;00pm on March 25th
Earth Hour is 8:30pm - 9:30pm on March 26th

Thank you for your continued support and I hope everyone has a safe and happy March Break!
Have a happy St. Patrick`s Day!!
