The First Day of School!

Today was our first official day of school and it went really well. The children were terrific and of course they all were on their best behaviour!! What a delightful class I have! We went over the classroom rules and routines (which took some time) and how we should treat our fellow classmates...how we should speak to one another and treat one another. We had a community circle and each child had a turn to talk about their summer holiday. We also did a short booklet on what we did on our summer holiday. As well, you will have found a little gift bag in your child's plastic bag. The little note inside it explains what each item is for. We did a follow up activity on making our own gift bags, which was challenging, but it made the children think and make connections. Please read all the forms over carefully and return them in your child's bag by the end of the week. Friday, September 10th is our Grade Two Open House. It runs from 8:25 until 8:45am. This will give you an opportunity to come in and visit the classroom. Please park your car on the north side of the school as parking is so limited in the south parking lot, OR walk to school that day. I hope the children all enjoyed their first day as much as I did!
